Mosaic or Terrazzo flooring.
The terrazzo flooring consists of two layers; the bottom layers of 2 cm cement concrete 1:2:4 or 1:1.5:3 as specified, and the upper layer of 6 mm thick consisting of a mix of marble chips and Cement should be of standard Specifications. The marble chips should be of 3 mm gauge, having maximum size 3 mm and minimum 1.5 mm. The sand should be coarse and well graded, clean and free from dust and dirt, etc. 
The stone girit (Shingle or bajri) should be hard and tough (granite stone) 13 mm gauge.
It should be clean and free from dust and dirt, etc. 32 mm (1) thick cement concrete (under layer) shall be aid in accordance with the instruction laid down in specification no.7. Dividing strips where required, including any strips in decorative design shall be bedded into the base concrete in case of ground floor. The top of the strips shall be kept at slightly higher level above the finished level of the floor, so that after grinding they are at the correct level.

Terrazzo is a composite material, poured in place or precast, which is used for floor and wall treatments. It consists of chips of marble, quartz, granite, glass, or other suitable material, poured with a cementitious binder (for chemical binding), polymeric (for physical binding), or a combination of both.


The permixed cement and pigment shall be mixed dry with marble chips in the ratio of 1 cement and 1.5 marble chippings The texture shall be well turned over adding just enough water to obtain a fairly dry but workable mixture.
The cement and marble mixture shall then be laid on the under layer (cement concrete) in a slightly more than 6 mm (.25"), thickness so that after rubbing down, the finished face is not less than 6 mm in thickness. 
Laying of top layer shall closely follow laying of under layer, so that the tow layers merge and firmly grip each other. 
The surface of the top layer shall be tamped and brought down to the required levels by using a straight edge. Immediately after completing the tamping, the surface shall be floated and trowelled once twice.
No attempt shall be made to remove the trowel marks. Borders and decorative designs shall be laid before the main body of the flooring. After two hours, the surface should be covered with wet gunny bags and. lefl undisturbed for two days. The surface shall then be cut by rubbing with sand stone blocks and all cement in the surface removed. A neat cement wash shall then be given and left undisturbed for six or seven days and then the surface should be ground (or rubbed) with carborundom stones of different grades starting with coarse one and successively with finer ones land rubbing should be continued until the entire surface shows e uniform granular appearance.

Terrazzo is solid floor. It is Portland cement mixed with marble chips and it is poured like concrete. It is then grinded and polished to a gloss. Mosaic is a type of tile pattern where different shapes of tile (either broken pieces of tile or cut pieces of tile) are laid in a pattern.

Medlum Density Fibre Board (MDF)

Medium Density Fibre Board (MDF)  MDF IS made from wood and other lignocellulose material refined into fibres and reconstituted with a resin binder. Row wood material is normally a single species wood. MDF has homogeneous structure with uniform density, texture and properties throughout, no identifiable grain can be seen at edge, end or face.
